About the Role
We are seeking a friendly, professional, and organized Host/Hostess to create a welcoming first impression for our guests. The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting guests, managing seating, coordinating reservations, and helping ensure a smooth and positive guest experience from arrival through departure. The ideal candidate is personable, attentive to detail, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and able to remain calm and professional during busy service periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet and welcome guests as they arrive.
- Manage reservations, waitlists, and seating assignments.
- Escort guests to their tables and provide menus as needed.
- Communicate estimated wait times accurately and professionally.
- Answer guest questions and provide information about the restaurant, menu, and services.
- Monitor table availability and coordinate seating with servers and management.
- Maintain an organized and clean host stand and entrance area.
- Communicate effectively with servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, and management.
- Monitor guest flow and help maintain an efficient dining room.
- Handle guest requests and concerns professionally, escalating issues to management when appropriate.
- Answer phones and assist with reservations and general inquiries.
- Assist with basic dining room tasks when needed.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude throughout each shift.
- Follow all company policies, service standards, and safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous hospitality, restaurant, customer service, or guest-facing experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, professional, and welcoming personality.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak service periods as needed.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with restaurant reservation or seating systems.
- Knowledge of restaurant operations and service standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Additional language skills are a plus.
