Position Overview
The Restaurant General Manager is responsible for the overall operation, performance, and profitability of the restaurant. This role leads the management team and staff, ensures an exceptional guest experience, maintains high operating standards, and drives sales, labor efficiency, and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house functions.
- Lead, coach, and develop managers and restaurant staff.
- Create a positive, accountable, and high-performance team culture.
- Manage staffing levels, scheduling, labor costs, and employee productivity.
- Recruit, interview, onboard, and train employees.
- Ensure consistently high standards for food quality, service, cleanliness, and hospitality.
- Monitor sales, labor, food costs, inventory, and other key performance indicators.
- Develop strategies to increase sales, guest satisfaction, and profitability.
- Manage restaurant budgets, financial reporting, cash handling, and cost controls.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and company policies.
- Address guest concerns professionally and resolve service issues.
- Coordinate with vendors and oversee ordering, receiving, and inventory management.
- Ensure proper execution of opening, closing, and operational procedures.
- Conduct regular staff meetings, performance reviews, and training.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and welcoming work environment.
- Partner with ownership or senior leadership on business strategy and operational improvements.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the guest experience.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of restaurant management experience, preferably as a General Manager or senior management-level leader.
- Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, hospitality, and financial management.
- Proven ability to recruit, train, motivate, and retain employees.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with scheduling, labor management, inventory, and restaurant technology/POS systems.
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to analyze financial and operational metrics and take corrective action.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
